Last minute camping trip!

Our friends, Tom and Tamara, had a camping trip planned over Labor Day weekend.  They had two campsites booked way in advance and were going with two or three other families.  Long story short, people backed out and they had a free campsite for the weekend.  Tamara told me this Thursday evening and we decided to throw together a last minute camping trip for the next night!  Thankfully we agreed to only spend one night, but even still, it was a lot of fast packing and food planning.  We are so glad we did it.  We had a great time.  We went to the same campground at Sly Park, but stayed at a different site, away from the lake, in the forest.  No yellow jackets this time, just mosquitos, but a little bug spray kept them away.
One of Zoe's favorite things to do when camping is put dirt all over her.
We hiked to the same waterfall as before.  Here Zoe is cooling off her feet.  The water was FREEZING.
Luke found a stick in the shape of an "L".
Did I mention the kids were filthy?  I can't imagine why.

Back to school!

Luke's best buddy, Emerson, is going to the same preschool this year.  Both boys are very excited about that!

On the second day of school, Luke got to be the super star!  Here he is, sharing one of his favorite books.

Camping at Jenkenson Lake

We went camping in August at a great campground called Sly Park, located next to Jenkenson Lake in Polluck Pines, about 45 mins from our house.  It is a beautiful campground.  Our site was right on the lake with a gorgeous view.  Our friends came up for a day and we hiked to a nearby waterfall.  It was a fun trip but we were invaded by yellow jackets and that made me cranky.  The kids had a blast.
