We went to the folsom zoo this past weekend. Travis was out of town and I needed something to do. I read in the paper that the zoo was going to have a special bat exhibit. I knew Luke would love that. When we got to the zoo, I asked the person at the entrance where the bats were and he said, "oh, straight ahead, in front of the foxes." I looked straight ahead and saw a lady sitting at a folding table. When I read in the paper that there was a special bat exhibit, I thought they built some sort of big cage for bats to fly around in for the day, but no. The exhibit was actually a lady (named Corky) with her four very small bats that she rescued from the wild. Apparently bats live around here. Who knew? Anyway, she was very nice and was very informative and Luke was really in awe of these bats. (He didn't have inflated expectations like I did.) And to top it all off, the volunteer for the zoo that organized the exhibit, is named Judy and she takes one of my step classes. She is also a wonderful photographer and she takes pictures at all of the zoo's special events and for the zoo brochure, etc. She was there overseeing the event and took all of the following great pictures of the kids and of the bats.
